Brace yourself – Peace on May 2, 2024

Hello peacemakers,

Today’s Peace Bit is going off the beaten track to some degree. (what beaten track?) That’s because I feel compelled to share with my legislators here in the US a particular video. It’s less than three minutes.

Oh hey- remember you can always find alternatives to any day’s Peace Bit! Every day’s P.B. is different and they are archived: KathleenTemple.wordpress.com

Today’s suggested message does apply however, in fact, regardless of political party and regardless of national affiliation. So I invite you to convey it to your legislators! Just find your own legislators’ contact info on their websites and go for it. (showing kindness, always kindness to the staff persons, of course) If you are phoning or visiting your legislators’ offices, you can SAY the web address of the video. If you are emailing or hard-copy-writing, you can include the web address that way too. Just be meticulous with it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXW11TnTXg4)

You can provide these keywords:

** Medea Benjamin this is how they treat peacemakers in Congress **

And maybe give a ‘trigger warning’.

[Legislator],

I know you don’t have access to much that is going on except through corporate owned media. So I take it upon myself to make sure you are aware of something that just happened in the United States.

The 71-year-old peacemaker never stops speaking, even though she is getting her breasts and crotch searched in a public hallway.

***

Long live the power to denounce warism!

❤️  – Kathleen

Are you out with some students today? They surely are rising up courageously. Please share this image with its QR code. Legislators need to hear from more of us!!

About Me

I am a peace advocate based in Rockingham County, Virginia in the United States. I “lobby” my US legislators in the cause of peace on a daily basis. I consider this advocacy to be a variation on lobbying because I am going head to head against the war lobbyists of this world. I detest war and all of its various so-called justifications. Writing a daily “Peace Bit” prompt to convey my appeals, I use my Peace Bit when I call or email or visit my own elected officials. I then share it with others who also want to appeal to their legislators in the cause of peace.

To appeal to your own legislators, just search the web for all of the contact info you will need. When calling or visiting your legislators’ offices, LAVISH the staff persons with courtesy. Their jobs are not easy! In many cases, staffers are our allies and they can have tremendous influence on their bosses!

If you subscribe to my blog you will always have new Peace Bits on hand; they are different every day. You can use them for personal reflection, for appealing to your own legislators anywhere in the world, or for planning your next Letter to the Editor. I’d love to hear how your peace advocacy goes! I invite your suggestions as well.

Please invite others to sign up for Peace Bits, will you? Our international circle of Peace Bits users grows mainly by word of mouth.
