Hello lovers of peace, New to Peace Bits? Welcome! Find info here: KathleenTemple.wordpress.com. I just listened to one of my legislators in a recent town hall meeting. Apparently “Israel has a right to defend itself” is still a thing. And it is still being used to justify, even by some good people, the vast industrial… Continue reading

Hello peace-loving folk, Yes, it is already Friday again. Which means the weekend is upon us. For some, that’s a pleasant and nice thing. I hope it is for YOU❣️ For those under siege, under bombardment, and under repression, I imagine that this part of every week is extremely daunting, if not torturous. Given that… Continue reading

Save children – Peace on May 14, 2024
Hello peace folk, So many children (and others) in Gaza are holding onto life by an incredibly slender thread. All of Palestine is in travail, but Palestinian children are most vulnerable. Can we implore our legislators today, again, please to speak out against weapons and war? They have incredible power in the situation, no matter… Continue reading

Hello peace “lobbyists”, We “lobby” (advocate, actually) for peace and against weapons and war, pressing on those who represent us. Today’s Peace Bit prompt is difficult to prepare but I hope you’ll be able to use it. I have had an image by Australian Caitlin Johnstone on my desktop here for many days. She has… Continue reading

Offer support? – Peace on May 10, 2024
Hello advocates for peace, I hope that your legislators are devoting themselves to the public interest. I hope that your legislators are not vulnerable to the predations of the big military contractors, the weapons makers, the surveillance corporations, the extractive industries, or the big media and tech oligarchs. There are a few elected officials in… Continue reading

Say something – Peace on May 9, 2024
Hello peace advocates, Today’s Peace Bit invites us to help our elected officials say something about the “big picture” on Planet Earth. Yes, saying something could get them in trouble, so we can offer to help. People who hate war and love peace are the ones who can give them courage. We see that the… Continue reading

It’s easy – Peace on May 8, 2024
Hello advocates for peace and against war, Some of the Peace Bits I send you are long. Some not. Today’s? EASY. The “lobbying” I’m myself doing today is, to me, the easiest form of peace-advocacy. I invite you to do this activity today too! You might think of ways to adapt it for yourself to… Continue reading

About Me
I am a peace advocate based in Rockingham County, Virginia in the United States. I “lobby” my US legislators in the cause of peace on a daily basis. I consider this advocacy to be a variation on lobbying because I am going head to head against the war lobbyists of this world. I detest war and all of its various so-called justifications. Writing a daily “Peace Bit” prompt to convey my appeals, I use my Peace Bit when I call or email or visit my own elected officials. I then share it with others who also want to appeal to their legislators in the cause of peace.
To appeal to your own legislators, just search the web for all of the contact info you will need. When calling or visiting your legislators’ offices, LAVISH the staff persons with courtesy. Their jobs are not easy! In many cases, staffers are our allies and they can have tremendous influence on their bosses!
If you subscribe to my blog you will always have new Peace Bits on hand; they are different every day. You can use them for personal reflection, for appealing to your own legislators anywhere in the world, or for planning your next Letter to the Editor. I’d love to hear how your peace advocacy goes! I invite your suggestions as well.
Please invite others to sign up for Peace Bits, will you? Our international circle of Peace Bits users grows mainly by word of mouth.
