Two quickies – Peace on May 4, 2024

Hello Peace Bit users everywhere,

Our legislators may have closed their offices for the weekend but in the cause of peace, we can contact them anyway. Go to their websites for contact information so you can send an email, leave a voicemail, write a letter, or otherwise contact them. Some of our legislators are on the campaign trail this weekend and can be spoken with in public meetings!

Following, find suggested wording for today’s messages. Tailor the wording to your own desires!

[Legislator],

The weapons industry everywhere and in its various forms must be shut down. Our public money must be reserved for meeting the real needs of our communities, including the needs of the natural world. The weapons industry is killing the whole planet.

So the weapons industry must be ended.

Many of you Peace Bit recipients have asked me to provide suggested wording for messages to President of the United States Joe Biden.

Yes, people from the US and also other countries can contact the Biden administration. And of course there is a chance that someone will receive and tabulate messages sent to the Biden administration, even messages sent from other countries.

Trying to contact the Biden administration is, to me, highly frustrating, however. And I feel kinda dirty whenever I am writing to the Biden administration. I will create some suggested wording for y’all as often as I can, though! We all can contact the Biden administration here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ Today, we can say something like this:

To President Biden,

WITHDRAW all US weaponry and other military supports from the Israeli/US military.

I write to the Biden administration frequently, myself, but unlike contacting legislators, I don’t enjoy it. At all.

Please, if you would be willing to write daily or weekly suggested wording for messages to Biden, please let me know! Maybe there could be a “Peace Bit” group specifically for those who want to contact the Biden administration in the cause of peace? Let’s do that.

I want my legislators (yours too) to hear about PEACE as often as they hear from the war lobbyists of this world. I hope you’ll start calling, emailing, and visiting your legislators in the cause of peace as well. Does it do any good? Well, we certainly do not want the war lobbyists -from government, the media, weapons makers, and the like- to be the only lobbyists, do we? Let’s OUTNUMBER them and shut them out all together. Our legislators should foreswear ever speaking with war lobbyists.

About Me

I am a peace advocate based in Rockingham County, Virginia in the United States. I “lobby” my US legislators in the cause of peace on a daily basis. I consider this advocacy to be a variation on lobbying because I am going head to head against the war lobbyists of this world. I detest war and all of its various so-called justifications. Writing a daily “Peace Bit” prompt to convey my appeals, I use my Peace Bit when I call or email or visit my own elected officials. I then share it with others who also want to appeal to their legislators in the cause of peace.

To appeal to your own legislators, just search the web for all of the contact info you will need. When calling or visiting your legislators’ offices, LAVISH the staff persons with courtesy. Their jobs are not easy! In many cases, staffers are our allies and they can have tremendous influence on their bosses!
